Book presentation: “Radici. Il cammino di Vavilov”

On Saturday 31 October at 18:00, the Museo Civico d’Arte e Territorio Gianni Bellini in Sarnico hosts “Radici. Il cammino di Vavilov”, led by journalist and documentary maker Simona Duci.

Duci talks about Eden Forever, an international scientific expedition that set out from Ome for Kyrgyzstan, and about her novel Radici. Il cammino di Vavilov (Arpeggio Libero, 2026), inspired by it. With a video report, the audience gets to know the Tien Shan mountains, Lake Songköl and the forests around Jalal-Abad, as well as Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov. The Soviet botanist, geneticist and explorer spent his life searching for the origins of cultivated plants and died in prison in 1943 after being arrested during the Stalinist purges.

The novel is set in 2050, in a world on the brink of collapse. Its characters cross Kyrgyzstan following the Malus sieversii, the wild apple tree considered the ancestor of modern apple varieties, in an attempt to save the planet.

During the evening, participants can visit the museum.
