About the event
On 4 November the town of Lovere remembers the soldiers and the fallen of the First World War. The ceremony is meant to strengthen the sense of belonging to the national community, based on the principles of peace and freedom set out in the Constitution and guaranteed by the Armed Forces.
The morning programme begins in Piazza Tredici Martiri with a wreath at the Monumento della Libertà and a remembrance of the Lovere men who died in the Risorgimento wars. A procession then goes to the Parco delle Rimembranze e della Pace and on to the Sacrario dei Caduti, where there are the flag-raising, the national anthem, a wreath, readings by students, a speech by the Mayor and a blessing.
At 18:00 a Mass for the fallen of all wars and for peace is held in the Chiesa di S. Giorgio. A delegation of the Corpo Bandistico di Lovere and music students of the Istituto Omnicomprensivo "Decio Celeri" take part. The ceremony also goes ahead in case of rain, and all residents are invited to attend.
